Description:
The EIT Technical Writer will assist the USPS Director of IT Architecture and Strategy create, maintain, and publish all manner of corporate standards, guidelines, manuals, presentations and reports related to and in support of USPS IT architecture and strategy objectives.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Systematically design and write accurate and comprehensive technical documentation to assist corporate IT architecture and strategy
- Write easy to understand technical specifications, reports and technical documentation in a clear and concise manner as needed.
- Develop effective communication with technical as well as non-technical staff at all levels (from top management within the organization to the end user in the work environment)
- Collect, organize, analyze and evaluate technical and non-technical information
- Transfer technical information into powerful graphs, flowcharts and tables or spread sheets for presentation as needed
Minimum qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of technical writing experience.
- Experience in technical writing in IT(e.g., servers, routers, firewalls, help/service desk with strong emphasis on cyber security)
- Ability to conduct interviews with subject matter experts and create writing technical and business documentation based on interview.
- Ability to prepare instruction manuals, procedures/processes and related documents
- Experience with Microsoft Office 2013/2016 and Windows 10
- Strong project management skills
- Willingness to travel as needed
Desired qualifications:
- Previous federal, state or local governmental work related IT technical writing experience.
- Previous technical writing experience with a major computer software and/or hardware company
